Ground type is one of the 18 Pokémon elemental types. Many Ground-type Pokémon have high Physical Attack and Defense, but also have low Special Defense and Speed, very similar to Rock-type Pokémon. They are commonly known to have a major advantage over Electric-type Pokémon, having an immunity to their attacks as well as hitting them super effectively. In addition, their attacks have wide coverage, being super effective against 5 different types, tying with the Fighting type to have advantage over the most types of Pokémon. Despite this, they have common weaknesses to Water, Grass and Ice-type moves, which is made worse by the fact that most moves from these types target their weaker Special Defense. Prince Ryan of Aredia Gym specializes in Ground-type Pokémon.
