Dragon type is one of the 18 Pokémon elemental types. Although Dragon-type moves are only super effective against their own type, most Dragon-type Pokémon have higher offensive stats than other Pokémon to compensate the lack of type coverage and strike their opponents with neutral damage. However, most final form Dragon-type Pokémon take quadruple damage from Ice-type moves, and the newly introduced Fairy-type further balanced the dominance of Dragon-type Pokémon because of its immunity and effectiveness to Dragon-type Pokémon. Rival Tess specializes in Dragon-type Pokémon.

    • In addition, Dragon-type Status moves are also the fewest among all 18 types, with only one of them.
  • Except for single-stage Dragon-type Pokémon, as well as Seadra evolving into Kingdra, all other Dragon-type Pokémon evolve by levelling up.
  • Dragon is the only type that simultaneously resists attacks from all 4 main types — Fire, Water, Electric, and Grass.
  • The Dragon type is weak defensively to itself. The only other type that shares this trait is the Ghost type.
