The Steel type is one of the 18 Pokémon elemental types. It is the most resistant type, resisting attacks from 10 out of all 18 types, as well as being immune to Poison-type moves, reflecting the nearly indestructible nature of metal. A large majority of Pokémon from this type are inorganic and are based on mechanical life forms. Steel-type Pokémon also cannot be poisoned. However, as Steel-type attacks are only super effective against Ice-type, Rock-type and Fairy-type Pokémon, this type was mainly used defensively until the introduction of the Fairy type.
